Rose Magick

The Rose embodies deep transitional change and is symbolic of not only the cycles of nature but also the seasons and cycles within us all. She is a reminder to be firmly rooted within the moist dark Earth, anchored in stability so that we may weather whatever comes our way as well as embracing the unfurling flow upward as we morph and change, as we extend our thorns of healthy boundaries, as we bud and bloom and wilt and as we birth the rose-hips and seeds of change.

There are many ways to work with roses, from simple observation, to deep journeying and meditation, from creation of Rose Water and Rose Beads, to using Rose Oil and Rose Petals and Rose-hips in magickal workings, ritual bathing, teas and salves and more.

The Rose is also aligned to the element of Water and to me Earth and therefore the Moon and again phases, cycles and changes from birth to rebirth and all that lays in between.

If you have read my other blog posts you will have seen the Rose and Flower of Life Spell I posted, if not I encourage you to go look and utilise this spell if it resonates with you. Today I am sharing another little ceremony with you:

Beeswax Rose Ceremony - to enrich your self love practices and to encourage positive loving connections within your life:

You will need:

Candle

Softened Beeswax (or beeswax candles)

Rose Petals or dried rose-hips

Patchouli and Sandalwood Oil

Vanilla Extract

Drop of your blood, a saliva or tears

Knife to draw symbol in wax

Rose Oil added to carrier oil such as macadamia, or jojoba for anointing your body. Or you can purchase a rose oil, this is my favourite currently:

(note I have not be sponsored or paid in anyway to endorse this oil, it's just a personal favourite).

Rose Water or petals, Himalayan salt or whatever you wish to add to a cleansing bath/shower.

Note: if you work with deity you may wish to set up an altar to one of the Rose goddesses a few days beforehand, introduce yourself make offerings, pour libations such as rose water or rose wine and spend sometime speaking your intentions and petitioning for support.

Note: why beeswax? Bees are connected to the bonds of love and work together to create all that is needed for the community. Did you know that 1 out of 6 flowering plants are pollinated by bees.....there are several deities associated with bees and the Melissae were bee priestesses in ancient Greece and oracles of wisdom.

Please read all the way through prior to performing this, so you know whats involved.

Steps:

Take a long hot bath or shower with rose water, rose petals or whatever way you chose to support you to cleanse, relax and focus. Let the mundane drift away and picture yourself feeling loved and or attracting positive/conscious love into your live, take some time to see how that looks and feels and visualise how your life will be when it happens. (note this is not a entrapment spell to love another against there will, they never end well and I advise against them).

When you feel cleansed and focused, step out of the water and anoint yourself with rose oil of your choosing, see above suggestion. (always ensure whatever you put on your skin is designed for direct contact and if you are unsure do a patch test.)

Soften beeswax and in your bowl of beeswax, add your rose petals, hips, oils and vanilla extract, some of your DNA, such as a drop of blood. (Beeswax note; you can soften beeswax in a double boiler or slow cooker with water. Alternatively you can light several beeswax candles and pour over your ingredients stirring quickly with a skewer until combined)

Combine ingredients together holding yourself or the love you desire in your mind and your heart. Roll the wax into a ball or disc and hold in your hands (be careful of hot wax), as it becomes firmer you may wish to carve symbols, words or your name on it. When you are done bring it to your heart and gaze into the candle flame, allowing your intentions to be carried out by the flame.

Note: If you have a lot of beeswax you can make a poppet out of beeswax and put your ingredients into it's heart.

Carry your little love sphere with you, sleep with it place it upon your Rose Altar, surround it with things that speak love to you. Remember to thank any deities or guides that supported this work and also the energies of the Rose and the Bees.

May this little ritual support you into a deeper more conscious union with yourself and others.
