Summer Solstice Rite & Blood Wood Water

SUMMER SOLSTICE CONNECTION - MY GIFT TO YOU:
May this simple ceremony support your solar connections during the Longest Day of the Year. You may use this alongside your other magickal workings if you wish too or as a stand alone practice.
Preparation:
You may like to leave a bowl of rain water or other pure water in the sun and include in it orange peel, cinnamon, cloves and or essential oils (if using essential oils add a solubiliser to help them integrate with the water). This can be used as wash, added to anointing oils for candle dressing and poured as a Libation to the Sun and your Solar Deities.
Note: many citrus oils are photosensitive so don't wear them and then sit in the sun, check first.
On Solstice Day before Sunrise - Cleanse and prepare yourself:
You may wish to have a Ritual Bath or Shower, or wash your hands and feet with salt water and/or fumigate using, eucalyptus and tea tree or frankincense to prepare.
Arise before the Sun and acknowledge the Ancient Lands and her custodians and then sit in silent contemplation, think about the calendar year passing and all that has occurred. Think about what you wish to purify/release and what you wish to bring into being and supercharge with the Sun on this potent Solar Day.
Face East and Watch the Sunrise – as the Sun rises over the horizon welcome the Solar Energy with gratitude and the power of New Beginnings, state what you wish to bring into being and grow, what you wish the Solar Power to infuse with potent Vitality. See the Outcome clearly. Acknowledge the power of the Sun and feel the Joy of Vital Growth. As you continue your morning keep in your mind what you are bringing into being and let it grow with the Suns power as the day lengthens. Let your Will be Charged as the Solar Fire increases.
At Noon – Face North and look above you (not directly into the Sun obviously) and connect in to Determination and Strength – acknowledge the Suns Full Power and Your Own Power, ask for the Strength to do what needs to be done. Let the Full Noon Day Power of the Sun fill you with potent Strength, open your heart to Joy and Courage. Feel it flow through your whole being.
Now, Release into the Suns Full Power all that needs purifying, all that you no longer need to take into the new Calendar Year with you. See it burning away. Thank the Solar Power. Revel in the joy of the release. You may wish to make an offering or pour a libation here to honour the Solar Power and or your Solar Deities whilst the Sun is at full potency.
Before Sunset – sit again in contemplation as you face West. Acknowledge Ancestors and Guides and all that protect you, the energies of support that lay in the West. Allow yourself to feel Gratitude for this Solar Journey and the Suns Strength. Prepare to journey forward with the days as they begin to shorten again, know that as the Sun sets here, it rises on the other side of the World and that you to are part of the Cycles of Life, Death and Rebirth. Re-affirm your Intention and release anything else that still lingers.
Open your Heart to the Gratitude of Being and to the alignment with the Sun, Moon, the Stars and the Seasons.
Look around you and thank Spirit -The Divine Within - The Divine Without - The Divine All Around You.
As night falls, look South and Acknowledge the Earth beneath you, the grounding Strength, the fertile abundance.
Go within and connect to the Darkness, acknowledge the Element of Void, the liminal spaces and the importance of balancing your Darkness and Light. Know that the Darkness births the Sun and Moon and that within the Primordial Dark all is born and reborn.
Allow some time in contemplation and gratitude. Reaffirm your Intentions.
And It is done. So go feast and celebrate all that you Have and all that you will Have. Embrace the joy.

My home is surrounded by beautiful old Bloodwood trees:
Corymbia gummifera - a species of Australian Bloodwood, stunning tree endemic to eastern Australia with blood red sap.
This bloodwood has creamy white flowers that the birds, insects and bats love, I also love its rough bark. When i get windfall branches I save the leaves, when the tree bleeds sap naturally I collect it and when I had to have a branch that was hanging over my roof cut, I salvaged some wood and poured out honey libations to the tree with loving care.
If you don't have access to Bloodwood, use another native that you consider has Summer associations for you and you can always add (your own blood) tumeric, saffron, chilli or paprika powder or beet juice or food dye to colour the water.

Summer Solstice Solar Water anchored with Citrine and Infused with Bloodwood leaves, colouring the water a deep golden orange hue.
For 3 days, I charge this water:
On the eve - the day before traditional Summer Solstice date, on the Wheel date and through Sunrise - Noon and Sunset today on the exact date of the longest day.
As the Sunrises through a sky heavy with clouds, my candles are lit to honour the potency of solar fire. For the hidden light still shines brightly beyond this Veil of cloud. A reminder to nurture the light deep within.

Honouring the power of the Flame of Hope - the power of the Sun, as mighty Ra, as golden Horus, as Sekhmet - Mistress of Light.
As the internal Flame within.
As the golden Rose of the internal fire centre - supporting self-confidence, self-expression, courage and joy.
May the light shine brightly within us all and radiate hope, courage and strength to all that need it.
