Scorpio Season - honouring Goddess Serqet (Srqt).

Scorpio Solar Season is now unfolding, for me associated with Scorpion headed Egyptian Goddess Serket - She who:

"Causes the throat (or mouth) to Breathe", alluding to her associations with bites and stings, with poison and venom and her alignment to healing, protection and toxicity. A reminder that the difference between healing and harm is often in the dose!

She supports us to investigate: Where we envenomate ourselves and allow others toxic roles in our lives?

Serqet is the first deity that you see when you arrive at Cairo Airport, protecting the City and watching over the comings and goings, I took this photo on my last pilgrimage to Egypt in 2023.

Serqet - sɜːrˌkɛt, Serket, Selket, Selqet, Selcis, or Selkis is scorpion crowned goddess of fertility, nature, animals, healing, protection, regeneration, and magick, and is connected to scorpions and serpents.

You may know also that Scorpio has 7 symbols that represent the path to evolutionary growth, rebirth and understanding:

Spider, Scorpion, Lizard, Serpent, Wolf, Eagle (or Dove) and Phoenix. A reminder we are in the Year of the Snake and it has definitely been one of cyclic return and deep shedding and loss.....all things that Serqet may be a powerful ally for navigating.

Serqet is protector of Sun god Ra as he battles the primordial serpent Apep each night during his journey through the Duat to return the Sun. And so she is protector of Pharaoh and of the Dead as one of the sacred guardians of the Canopic Jar that contain the organs during the embalming process and are aligned to the Sons of Horus. They also related to The Cardinal Points and because of this I utilise them as directional associations when working with the Egyptian Deities in Ritual.

The Canopic Jar Associations:

Hapi - Baboon - Lungs - North (Nephthys)

Duamatef - Jackal – Stomach – East (Neith)

Qebehnsenuf - Falcon – Intestines – West (Serqet)

Imsety - Human - Liver – South (Aset)

Like the sign of Scorpio, Serqet is also aligned to death and regeneration. As we step into solar Scorpios transformative powers of release and renewal, we are gifted an opportunity to clear stagnation and embrace the flow deeper into our authentic truths and the unification of shadows and light.

Serqet is a wonderful ally for Scorpio Season due to her associations with Death, Regeneration, Healing and deep Magick. She protects during transitions and journeys of transformation. She is also related to embalming and is thus called - "Lady of the beautiful Tent' and is a protector of not only the dead but also of Pharaoh, Qebehsenuef, Aset and Ra. She is also a protectress of women particularly during birth and may be beneficial for also working with the mother wound.

As punisher off the wicked and guardian of Justice she is sometimes connected to vengeance. She is a daughter of Ra, whether actually or metaphorically, she is also sometimes seen as daughter of Neith and Khnum. Serket supports the balance between toxicity and health, the transition between life and death and is protector of birth, being present at the birth of Horus, although her motherly role of protection is later absorbed by Aset (Isis) and she becomes more of a funerary goddess, guardian of Souls. She may be an ally not only when the Sun or Moon is in Scorpio but also at liminal times between worlds as we journey with changing seasons and cycles of Self.

As mentioned in the botanical associations, to me she is also connected to the energies of the rose which is also so aligned to hidden mysteries and cycles; regeneration, protection and healing, and roses were so beloved in Egypt and used in floral waters, perfume oils, medicine and death rituals and often found in tombs.  Rose oil or rose petals may be utilised in offerings, anointings, spell crafting and journeying connections to Serqet, you may wish to use Rose Buds or Full Blooms, Petals or thorns depending on how you are connecting with her.

And Finally some general Scorpio Associations for those looking to incorporate them also:

Scorpios Dark Watery energy may be intense, passionate, sensual and transformative however it may also offer elements of compassion utilising the flow of water through the cycles of life, death and rebirth. Water to me placed in the West is deeply connected to the ancestral realms and the lands of the Dead.
