THE FIRST FULL MOON OF 2026.

The first Full Moon of 2026 flows home into Cancer, brimming with watery depths as she tugs at the ebb and flow of our emotional landscape. There is a deep sense of rawness as we adjust to all that has unfolded over the last 12 months and what is still to be released is now illuminated as we ride the tail end of the Serpent year until mid Feb and the astro year to March.
Cancer highlights the home and family, where nurturing is needed, where we give away our power, and in the Moon our internal world is activated.
I know her energy well for my ascendant is in Cancer and I am at times highly sensitive to my environment and to the energy and actions of others. Sensitivity is a beautiful quality, there is so much potential, healing and learning in this softening, however it also comes with many challenges at times, especially in the letting go of anchored pain. Learning to respond rather then react, having firm boundaries and protecting vital energy is essential to the well-being of Cancerians.
And the lesson of water is one of fluidity, riding the tides, forging pathways over, around and through obstacles. Attunement to intuition and emotional intelligence, deep listening to Nature and an openess to guidance from ancestral wisdom.
Cancer as the Crab, also has an external shell that protects the soft interior, along with the ability to sidestep obstacles and move around things, which can be powerful indeed, as long as this does not lead to complete withdrawal into hiding in the shell and total avoidance of challenging emotions and/or situations.
The beautiful Rose is the floral symbol of Cancer; elegant, highly sensitive, sensuous and evocative of a myriad of emotions and so connected to cycles. She is also aligned to hidden mysteries....
The power of the Rose Priestess, the sovereign Mage within us all invites us to weld our power with strength and also softness. To embrace and hone our skills and to guide and encourage others to do so with grace. Yet there is also a realisation that there is always more to discover, more roots to plant, more buds to bloom, wilt and shed and thorns to protect it all with.
May this Moon be a beacon for your Soul.

And as the Chariot offers us a chance to be the driving force of our own destiny, making decisions that align to our own values and flowing into them with courage.

Please Note: I did not place the stone formation in the river it was already there when I arrived to do my workings. After I finished my libations, I dismantled the stones to allow the water to flow naturally, I do not agree with obstructing water like this. And please only ever place natural offerings in the water, for me that is small rose petals and rose water. Song, libations, drumming and dance are other ways I offer to the flow of water and the elementals.

Do you have specific preparations that you undertake before Ritual and Ceremony?
Cleansing Baths are one of the ways that I like to prepare myself and are a Ritual in it's self.
A Ritual Bath works on more then the physical level of achieving cleanliness, it also helps clear the aura of negative energy, lifts your vibration and helps you to set the right mood
Taking time out like this before magickal workings aids with the setting of intentions, implying that what you are about to undertake is of such importance that you have allocated specific preparations and time to its success.
It is also a good way to release the mundane and set the boundary between the ordinary life and the connection to Divine Energy. When I step into that bath I leave the regular word behind and my family also know that I am now omitting a do not disturb warning.....
Start by setting the mood in the bathroom, I light candles, burn incense, put on music that creates aligns to my intentions.
Then fill the bath with warm water, add epsom salts, herbs such as rosemary and lavender, rose petals and a few drops of essential oil. I use Frankincense and Cedarwood (mixed in a small amount of coconut oil....Note: only use a small amount you don't want the tub slippery).
Immerse yourself in the atmosphere and fill it with the intention to cleanse and rid yourself of all negativity that will adversely effect your upcoming Ritual. Allow the water to relax you and melt away stress and normal day to day worries. Allow yourself to only focus on the task at hand.
Tonight's Bathing Rites
Tonight I am honouring myself under the Cancer Full Moon with a Bathing Rite. I love to start with a Rose Scrub and then shower surrounded by candles with sea salt upon my brow allowing it to wash over me releasing all tension and toxicity, clearing all my energies bodies. Then I sit upon my verandah under the moon with a foot soak and journey with her energies and water sounds. I follow this up by journaling and then anointing myself with sacred Rose and Jasmine Oils and Golden Water Oils that I brought back with me from Egypt. Rose Water Libations are then offered to the Moon, Water Elementals and my Deities and guides. Do you have a bathing rite? Please share in the comments.
